Tinghir and its surroundings
A lovely city that lies between the High Atlas mountains in the north and Saghro in the south, Tinghir is known by its beautiful palm grove and its famous Todra Gorge, the most spectacular gorges of Morocco. The city is populated of 60,000 inhabitants (including surrounding villages) and built around a promontory dominated by the ruins of an old residence of Glaoui, which was a military post during the protectorate. The palm, with a length of 35 km, is full of small Ksours and Kasbahs. Walks on foot or by bike are offered to visitors, where they can discover a community organization, in terms of work in fields like water distribution. From the road that penetrate Todra gorge and follows the oued taking a certain height, we can see this vast botanical garden interspersed with fields and orchards. The majestic Kser of Ait Bouajane, abandoned since the 60s, piled its adobe houses behind impressive walls, emerging from the green ocean.
The city of Tinghir is two hours drive from two airports: Ouarzazate airport and Errachidia airport. Therefore Tinghir is step not to be missed during a visit to Morocco and it offers various tourism activities.

Tombouctou hotel organizes walks in the palm grove.

Apart from trade and agriculture, there is a very traditional pottery production in El n'Iaamine Hart, 20 km east of Tinghir. Many of these artisans create objects for daily use. Apart from that, El Hart is a village with great charm in the middle of a large palm grove.
